FAQs

Does ASCOM only do electrical work?

No. ASCOM strives to go above and beyond the normal duties of an electrical contractor. In the past, along with electrical work, we have fixed broken flagpoles and greased garage doors. Need another job done? Ask us!

What do I need to do to prepare for my service call?

We understand it’s uncomfortable to have a stranger enter your home. We pride ourselves on making personal connections with our clients, so you won’t have a stranger in your personal space – but rather a friendly face. Please continue to live your life as normal while we are there. There’s no need to put pets or children out of sight. We accept and encourage questions from customers as we work to resolve your issue.

Do I need to be home for my service call?

No – but we do need access. Feel free to leave a key, share the code, or meet us there to let us in and head back to work. We often do work when no one is home, and you can rest assured we will treat your home like we do our own. We haven’t had any complaints about completing work when the home is vacant.

How do I pay ASCOM for the work performed?

We will mail you an invoice after the work is completed. ASCOM accepts checks and credit card payments.

Does ASCOM do emergency work?

Yes. We have a dedicated phone line (Call 717-979-6352)  for after-hour emergencies, so we are always ready to help. After-hour rates apply outside the hours of 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Why should I use a licensed electrician?

Licensed Electricians, like ASCOM Electric, are regulated and certified by the state of PA. Unlicensed electricians are not subject to the laws protecting customers, nor does home owner’s insurance cover damages that they cause. Our PA Contractor Registration # is PA6092.

Does ASCOM design electrical systems?

Yes. ASCOM is an expert in the industry. If we can’t fix it, we can share our recommendations on next steps.

Can I do electrical work myself?

Electrical work is not only dangerous, but can be expensive to repair if done improperly. If you do not have the skill level to handle your electrical job, contact ASCOM Electric for a free estimate.
